Mission statement
As a photographer, I believe there is a picture within every picture, a smaller image that represents the essence of the whole. If properly captured, this image-within-an-image becomes a powerful visual metaphor that invites the viewer to filter meaning from the photo through direct participation. The professional photographers I most admire are those whose images create space for the eye to wander. Similarly, I consider my own photos successful when they inspire viewers to imagine the rest.
Biography
Dr. Stephen Rostler has been in his own practice as an ophthalmologist in Framingham, Massachusetts for the past 30 years. Performing cataract surgery and other procedures such as LASIK has improved the clarity of vision of many. Through his photography he clarifies his own vision of the world by seeking the elusive picture-within-the-picture, finding tight and evocative visual metaphors that tell the whole story.
